How We Price Web Projects (And Why We're Transparent About It)

Pricing web work is notoriously opaque. Here's exactly how we think about project scopes, quotes, and what drives the final number.

We've had more conversations than we can count that start with: "I got a quote from another agency for ₹4 lakhs and another for ₹40,000. What's going on?"

Pricing in the web industry is genuinely confusing. There's almost no standardisation, and the range between a freelancer charging ₹15,000 and an agency charging ₹4 lakhs for "the same thing" can be hard to understand. So here's our honest breakdown.

What actually drives the price of a website

The price of a website is really a function of time, complexity, and who's doing the work. When someone quotes you a low price, it usually means one of three things: they're fast and experienced, the scope is genuinely small, or they're cutting corners you won't notice until 6 months in.

  • Scope: How many pages? How many unique layouts? Is there a CMS?
  • Design complexity: Custom illustrations, animations, and art direction cost more than clean typographic layouts.
  • Integrations: Booking systems, payment gateways, APIs, and third-party tools all add time.
  • Content: Are we writing copy, sourcing photography, or just placing your assets?
  • Timeline: Rush jobs cost more. Tight deadlines require more resource allocation.

Why we publish this at all

Most agencies won't publish pricing. The reason is usually that they want to scope the client first and price based on what they think the client can afford. We think that's backwards.

Transparent pricing attracts clients who value the work, not clients who are looking for the cheapest option.

When clients know roughly what to expect before the first call, the conversation becomes much more productive. We're not trying to fit a square peg in a round hole — we're both evaluating fit together.

What you don't pay for

We don't charge for revisions within the agreed scope. We don't have surprise "project management fees." We don't charge extra for mobile responsiveness — that's table stakes. And we don't lock you into a proprietary platform that holds your website hostage.

If your budget and your needs don't align perfectly, we'll tell you honestly. We'd rather recommend a simpler solution that delivers results than oversell a complex project that doesn't serve you well.
